Relationships

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous." ~Carrie SATC The other day my girl friend and I were talking about the life of singleness; the reasons people choose to be single or not, the struggles, the triumphs, etc.  She passed along something she herself was told.  Before dating someone, ask yourself, "will this person make me a better Christ follower?  If this relationship does

Update on Tobi

Coach Turgeon, can not say how much respect I have for this man.. Coach Mark Turgeon and the Aggie staff have been in Houston with the Oyedeji family, and Turgeon has covered many of the funeral and hospital costs. The team is asking that if you are providing monetary donations, save them for the Tobi Oyedeji Endowed Scholarship Fund, which is close to getting off the ground.  In consultation with the NCAA national office, Texas A&M secured permission to provide Tobi’s parents with assistance, and Coach Mark Turgeon and the basketball staff are coordinating the assistance. In lieu of flowers, fans and former students who wish to show their support are asked to donate to the Tobi Oyedeji Scholarship Endowment through the 12th Man Foundation. Those who prefer, may also send sympathy cards to the Oyedeji family through the men’s basketball office at PO Box 30017, College Station, TX 77842-3017. “We lost a member of our Aggie basketball

A week feelin' like I'm back in news

One of the main reasons I left the news business was because almost all news is depressing.. There is even a saying in the news room, "if it bleeds, it leads" and that just wasn't a lifestyle I was comforted in.   Can you imagine reporting day in and day out?  Waiting and listening to police scanners to hear about a crash, a murder, or some thing awful that was happening close to you?  Close to your home?  Isn't the current state of the economy depressing enough with out hearing of something horrible happening right down the street from you?  Men showing up at their estranged girlfriend's or wife's work/home and killing them?  A missing elderly man or woman who suffers from Alzheimer being found dead because they forgot to eat?  Or a teenager being killed because a repeat drunk driver decided to get behind the wheel one Saturday afternoon..  This is the stuff I was supposed to be excited to tell on the news..  What about the good stuff to lift people's spi

Sherman visits our soldiers..

Written by a longhorn, but I had to share...  Coach Sherman Visits Our Soldiers in Iraq Texas A&M University Coach Mike Sherman came to Iraq this week. As a Longhorn, I didn't think his tour would impact me much. But, it has. He has had a profound impact actually. There's such a genuine way about the Coach- -something uncommon. During many conversions, I had the feeling he really seeks to emulate folks of high moral character. He talked a lot about the respect he had for our senior USF-I leaders in Iraq. After his visit is over, I'm going to find it very hard to root against the Aggies, so I will only reserve this action for the Thanksgiving Day game with the University of Texas. Coach Sherman's over 25-year football career has spanned high school, college and the NFL. He is an amazing guy. Riding around with the Coach, I learned a lot. Starting off, he has a deep appreciation for the military. He makes the comparison from what we do to football, but he
