Just Breath...

  It has been one of those weeks.. You know what I am talking about?  The long, can't wait til the weekend week, where hardly anything goes the way you expect it to and then it ends with a cold front and rain!  haha sounds about right!  But you know what?  I also have a lot to be thankful for in this crazy week. First, let me tell you about Wednesday night... Weds was the start to my long days.. It was a busy day at work and I went to go vent with my best friend and that didn't go so well.  You see my best friend is not a believer in Christianity.  So when I bring anything up having to do with the gospel it doesn't go so well.  (But I love her to death and will continue to pray for her everyday).  So after our dinner, I decided to go spend some time in the bible.  I did that, read my chapters for my bible study, took some time to journal and prayed.  Then, I had a glass a wine, started to read my "fun" book and calmed down. I WAS READY FOR BED BY 10:15!!!   Oh bu

Wacky Wednesday

Ok, so I am sure you are asking why is Wednesday Wacky?  Because after the porch, I usually go out with friends from church, it's a late night and Wednesday I am all wacky because I am so tired :)  BUT it's ALL worth it!! So The Porch last night was AMAZING.  JP has started a new series to challenge the young adults of Dallas to "be differe nt".  (Romans 12:1-2 1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. It really goes hand in hand with what Addison Road talked about last week and JP just took off with it.  Too often we c onform to what is around us, the cars people drive, the clothes people wear, hair, house, income, etc.. I'm now waiting for my boss, Dr. Harvey Carter to get out of one meeting so we can start another.. And let's pray that it is quick because I have The Porch tonight!!! Crazy Love Quote

Here's that quote Jenny told us about at The Porch on Tuesday “It is not scientific doubt, not atheism, not pantheism, not agnosticism, that in our day and in this land is likely to quench the light of the gospel. It is a proud, sensuous, selfish, luxurious, church-going, hollow-hearted prosperity.” This week I pray that whether everything is going your way and you feel like you have it all, or you feel as though you've lost it all and life seems too much to bear, that you will not lose focus of the cross. I hope and pray that we will not be "proud, sensuous, selfish, luxurious, hollow-hearted people", but that we would humbly live our lives to serve and glorify our Savior Jesus Christ.

A Week In Review

What a week! Last weekend my mom came to visit me in Dallas (one week at my new apartment).  So after a crazy week, last week, I was sure this week would slow down, WRONG :) Monday was filled with meetings and a late night at work, and then coming home and trying to make my apartment a home.. Tuesday, meetings that day, and a schedule full of errands!  But it ended with a bang!  The Porch at Watermark church started back up on Tuesday!  http://www.theporchdallas.com/ It's a place for young adults in Dallas to meet, worship and hear sermons on the things that we struggle with day-to-day.  JP is great and really understands how to reach young adults, believers and non believers alike.  But this past week had an added treat, the band, Addison Road played for us. They were AWESOME!!  But what I enjoyed most was their message.  Jenny (http://www.jennysimmons.com/) a Dallasite herself had some insight into our selfish, jealous, egos that we, Dallas residents, display for all to see.
